GOOD DESIGN – prototypr

Art shapes society (And so does design) Back in 1999, I remember how important art was to me, as it could inspire. Either inspire for good or for evil. Art shaped society, just as music defines the culture or period. Artists were role models, good or bad.

The scarcity of UX Design professionals in South Africa

How did this problem come to be? Context? I could go into a long debate about politics and educational system in SA. But I hate politics. So let’s start here instead: Don Norman was a pioneer in UX, being the first “User Experience Professional/Architect” in 1995…(an electrical engineer and cognitive scientist) - yes, a beautiful combination of science & design.

Design : life lessons from my mom – prototypr

An effort to understand the origin of my biases 1981 September, final year of high school, before writing her final paper…my mom went job hunting. She couldn’t afford to go to college, as she was raised by her pensioner grandmother. 2 Dec she wrote her final exam.

Out with the old, in with the new… – Designerd – Medium

BROWSERS: SPEED/ MEMORY USAGE/ UNINTERRUPTED WORKFLOW Chrome - Vivaldi - Safari - Firefox Chrome has always been my favorite. Being a die-hard Google fan. I’ll love anything they create. I left Safari as soon as Chrome was released, probably ±2008/9. But a few months ago, I decided to test out a few others.

Practical Principles – Designerd – Medium

PART II Although, some of Bruce Lee’s quotes are derivatives of former philosophers, if you think about it, most great leader’s quote’s are inspired by others and adapted to their own field. As T.S. Eliot says: “Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal; bad poets deface what they take, and good poets make it into something better, or at least something different”.

Imagineering the education system – Designerd – Medium

“If your plan is for one year plant rice. If your plan is for ten years plant trees. If your plan is for one hundred years educate children.” - Confucius Imagine a world without school as we know it. School, the institution creating a production line of employees.

15+ jobs in 10 years – Designerd – Medium

Employee years…Corporate Industries 10 years ago I started my first job as Junior Designer. Since then I’ve worked for 15+ companies. Apparently, that’s a bad thing. Moving “looks bad” on your cv. But when a portfolio spans a decade, why worry? You learn more “just jumping in, unable to swim” than just staying in your first job.

Employee Management Dashboard 2015

Working with start-ups can be awesome, but with NDA’s in place, it will be a while before I have anything to upload.

This year, I have worked on UI for a social app, UX and UI for tourist and financial app. As well as something government based. But that’s about all I can say I guess. Upcoming, security and another social app.

I would like to work on projects for children and the environment, so if you have something in mind along these lines, please feel free to contact me at any time.

Also, if there’s a nursery school wall which needs a mural, I would be happy to offer my services [ just provide the wall and the paints ].
